SOUPER BOWL FUNDAY
Whether it’s the middle of the NFL season, or the middle of July, our Souper Bowl Funday is a guaranteed touchdown! Combining the fun of competition, cooking, and game-day excitement, this event is sure to have the folks that just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials running alongside the most diehard football fans.
After teams are formed, we dive right into “Hut, hut, hike!,” a favorite ice-breaker that has each team attempting to outscore the others. Based upon this, and other "face off" challenge scores, teams are “ranked,” which determines the order in which they choose the soup they will concoct. Some of the delicious one-pot wonders from which to choose include: corn and bacon chowder; beef chili; sweet potato, leek, and ham soup; chicken-escarole soup; Southwestern chicken & white bean soup; lentil soup; and hearty vegetable soup.
With so many components involved, this competition requires organization and teamwork; therefore, a head coach will be designated from the start. It is his/her responsibility to rally the team and oversee the specific “positions played.”
As soon as teams are in their respective “locker rooms,” the competition really heats up. In addition to creating their delicious homemade soup, and accompaniment salad or appetizer, team members are tasked with decorating a unique jersey for the coach, and creating an original team name, mascot, and team cheer, all to be unveiled later “in the game.” Armed with a variety of “crafty” supplies, teams may create homemade banners and pom-poms to accentuate their rah-rah-sis-boom-bah. These are only a few of the hands-on challenges posed to each team. In addition, teams are challenged to complete a variety of trivia, photo, and video challenges on iPads®, using BridgeTheApp™, our proprietary game app.
Field Goal! Touchdown! Extra Point! That’s right . . . throughout the program, our facilitators will keep your participants abreast of the latest score in our “virtual game.” At both the half-time and the game’s end, the winners of the betting pool win exciting prizes.
And don’t be fooled . . . this event is not just for the die-hard Sunday afternoon guy. Designed to incorporate a plethora of skills, this program is co-ed camaraderie at its finest.
When the final countdown begins, teams are scored based on a multitude of components including the taste of the soup, taste of the salad/appetizer, creativity and presentation of the team’s name, mascot, and cheer, and other fun-filled football favorites. Which team will win the gold and take home the championship medals?
Of course, the “final play” is chowing down on the amazing soups, salads, and appetizers scrumptiously prepared throughout the event. Just leave the cooler of Gatorade at home, please!
